Meet your 2022/23 Committee

President -

Charlotte Butler

My grooming journey began with my Havanese, Ginny and Millie, the inspiration behind Barking Butler Grooming Studio in South Perth, which I opened with my Mum and fellow groomer, Lynnie, in 2020. Once a well-intentioned owner of two matted dogs sporting unflattering hair-cuts, I’m now passionate about owner and groomer education and inspiring gorgeous pet grooms. A big believer in always learning, I’m committed to elevating grooming standards in Australia, as well as the community’s appreciation of our profession. A new mum and lover of croissants, you will usually find me watching a sunset or re-doing Ginny and Millie’s topknots…

Vice President -

Yvette Miles

I’m a home-based groomer in Albany, opening my business The BarkBowtiqueSpa in 2013 after emigrating from South Africa, where I did basic grooming since 2008. Up-skilling and competitions became part of my passion for dog grooming, always driving myself to improve on my last groom. I love all things Asian Fusion or Asian Styling! I believe in a soft and gentle approach as you’re working with someone else’s heart outside their body. The best part of my grooming day is when the owner comes to pick up their baby and their faces light up with joy and surprise.

Secretary -

Sarah Huang

My grooming journey began when I was about 12 years old. I was that nightmare customer who let their dog get matted and then did a home groom job with the kitchen scissors. My little Maltese-Shih-tzu was absolutely traumatised afterwards, so I promised him that I’d get better at it. I didn’t have any formal training grooming-wise, but I completed three years of veterinary school which I then never completed because I loved grooming way more as it mixes the two sides of me – the factual scientific ‘me’ and the artistic quirky ‘me.

Treasurer -

Ashleigh Beales

I’m Ashleigh, but everyone calls me Ash. I’m a 31 year old mother of 3 humans and 2 dogs. I’ve been a groomer for 5 years and love it. I run my own little home salon in Kalgoorlie, WA. Regional grooming has its challenges but I enjoy one on one time with my clients. I decided to join DGAWA as I’m passionate about dog grooming and love to always learn. Meeting other amazing groomers and gaining knowledge is by far the greatest thing about this association. I love volunteering with friendly passionate and like minded people.

Memberships -

Cathy Taylor

I own and run Pink Paws, which consists of a successful dog grooming salon in Belmont with a great team and an online business selling gorgeous ties and bows to my fellow groomers around Australia. I love dogs, especially Corgis, and am a furmum to 2 - Sophie (14) and Chester (7). They are the reason I started a mobile washing business in 2014 which evolved into grooming in 2016 and I never looked back. When not grooming you’ll find me playing lawn bowls or travelling both in Australia and overseas. I’m a firm believer in having FUN and enjoying life.

Events Co-ordinator -

Tania Wilson

I am the owner of Dezyna Dogz mobile Grooming salon. I am based in Baldivis and have been grooming professionally since Nov 2000. During my time living in Scotland I showed Toy and Miniature poodles, and made up several Champions along the way. I love grooming poodles, breed styles and Asian Fusion. I have a City & Guilds Diploma in Dog Grooming and hold a Cert IV in Training & Assessment. I have a great passion for our industry and hope to share my experience and knowledge with our wonderful groomers of all levels in WA.

IT Co-ordinator -

Leah Kahle

I started grooming back in 2014 to save a bit of money at the time with our Cocker Spaniel and Spoodle and discovered it was something I really enjoyed doing. After spending the previous decade in IT it was wonderful to get to do something creative. I moved from Melbourne to Perth in 2016 when grooming became more than a hobby to help balance my work and family life. Now with two kids and a wonderful home salon I couldn't image doing anything else. I've recently expanded from just grooming to supplying a handful of unique products to help groomers improve their productivity in the salon under the business name Topiary Dog.
