Meet your 2025 Committee

President -

Ashleigh Beales

Hi, I’m Ashleigh, but everyone calls me Ash. I’m a 33-year-old mum to three wonderful kids and two adorable dogs, Bailey (a Bichon Frisé) and Gillie (a Standard Poodle). I’ve been a professional dog groomer for 8 years and absolutely love what I do.

I run a cozy home salon in Kalgoorlie, WA, where I specialize in one-on-one grooming sessions. While regional grooming has its unique challenges, I enjoy connecting closely with both the dogs and their owners. My passion for grooming, education, and ongoing learning led me to join DGAWA, where I’ve had the privilege of meeting amazing groomers and gaining valuable knowledge.

In 2024, my business was honored with the Owner Operator of the Year award at the Goldfields Business of the Year Awards—an achievement that reflects my dedication to quality and growth. I’m deeply committed to upskilling, learning, and continuously expanding my expertise.

Being a part of DGAWA has been incredibly rewarding. Volunteering alongside like-minded, passionate individuals who share a love for dogs and grooming has been a highlight of my career. Together, we’re fostering a strong and supportive grooming community in WA.

Vice President -

Lexie Madafferi

Hi! My name is Lexie and I’ve been a pet stylist for nearly 20 years. I’m a highly awarded competition groomer, having competed all over Aus and earning over 70 awards across all categories. I was also proudly awarded the PIAA Pet Groomer of the Year in 2017. I specialise in grooming Bichon Frise and Asian Fusion styling in competition, with the odd poodle entry here and there.

In salon I love to groom all the small teddy style breeds. Having worked in a variety of different commercial salons, both self-employed and employed, and suffering a near career-ending burnout, I realised that something needed to change with the way I work in the career I adore. I now work one on one with all clients in my quiet and calm home salon in the evenings when my husband gets home, after spending my days as a stay at home mama raising my baby boy. It brings me so much joy to style our little pets into gorgeous teddy bears with patience and kindness.

I’m really excited to be working with the DGAWA to share my experience and love of our industry with my fellow pet professionals.

Secretary -

Kirah Poole

Hi! My name’s Kirah and I’m a massive animal lover.
When I was asked the question what I want to do leaving school I was never sure but I knew it’s definitely got to involve animals.
I spent about 8 years in the industry working for a pet supplier, but I didn’t feel 100% satisfied. Then one day I was offered a position in the stores dog grooming salon and my love for pet grooming was sparked!
I started my first year as a bather, watching the groomers there and asking a TON of questions and slowly I evolved into being a groomer myself.
Now I'm grooming my days away. My favourite dogs to do are the big ones! Groodles, labradoodles, standard poodles, Samoyeds! But I am also a sucker for the cavoodles and spitzs. If I’m not grooming at work, you’ll find me at home grooming my 2 Fluffy cat boys Kovu and Baron and dreaming of the day I will have a canine friend to love too. (Yes, I am a big cat lover and might be a traitor to dog kind) otherwise I’ll have my nose stuck in a book.
